End times news: “The end is near”; meteor hits Russia (Video)

The news is buzzing today about a meteor that broke into pieces and hit Russia with the force of an atomic bomb. When this happened the elderly women ran out into the streets yelling, “the world is ending”. How is this prophetic you ask? It is very prophetic, and here is the significance of this event.

Nearly 30-years ago, Russia's Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant had a series of explosions and a fire sending radioactive compounds into the air which ultimately poisoned much of Russian and Europe with radioactive fallout. It is considered the worst nuclear power plant disaster in history, and birth deformities are still being credited to Chernobyl.

Today's meteorite fell over Russia sending out sonic blasts. “The meteor -- estimated to be about 10 tons and 49 feet wide -- entered the Earth's atmosphere at a hypersonic speed of at least 33,000 mph and shattered into pieces about 18-32 miles above the ground, the Russian Academy of Sciences said in a statement. But even small asteroids pack a tremendous punch, explained Andrew Cheng of the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory,” according to Fox News.

A meteor only 10-meters in size packs the same energy of a nuclear bomb. So, this needless to say scared the people very badly as they saw it, heard it and were injured by it. Over 1,100 were injured, and some had to be hospitalized. God predicted these types of things would happen in the last days which we are living in today. “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.” (Luke 21:25-26)

Today's meteor strike is another fulfillment of scripture. It was so unexpected and happened seemingly out of now where. No predictions of this particular meteor are recorded and no one was warned. Men's hearts did fail them for fear when they saw what was coming on the earth. The Mayak nuclear storage disposal facility which is full of dozens of tons of weapons-grade plutonium was only 60 miles away from the meteor strike. The fact that it was so close but did not hit the storage facility further indicates a warning.

How does Chernobyl fit with today's meteor strike? The name Chernobyl means “wormwood”. God's word speaks of a meteor named “Wormwood” that is to hit the earth in the tribulation. Some fragments of today's meteor fell into in a reservoir outside the town of Chebarkul. Wormwood of the Bible will split apart as it falls and go into the fresh water and poison one third of planet earth's water supply.

“And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood; and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.” (Revelation 8:10-11)

Is this meteor that fell today “Wormwood” of Revelation? No it is not, but it is a foreshadowing of this event that is to happen during the tribulation. When the women ran into the streets crying out, “the world is ending,” they were prophesying more than they probably realized.

The end is near, and it is imperative that everyone get his heart ready. Are you ready to meet the Lord? He is going to return for those who are watching and ready. “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass and to stand before the Son of man.”(Luke 21:34-36)

Are you filled with the Holy Spirit and watching? Everyone else will be left behind. Do you want to be left behind to go through all of the events of Revelation? No one really does. So, friend, stop fooling yourself, and won't you accept Jesus Christ as your savior today? He loves you so much that he died for you. If you already are saved, won't you wake-up and begin watching? Give yourself over to living a holy life. The end is near, even at the doors.
