End-of-summer festivals wrap up Alaska summer

As the summer winds down in Anchorage, the beginning of fall festivals gear up. Beginning August 19, and running through the 21, the Greek Festival in Anchorage brings to life the culture, culinary delights and music as well as dancing of the Orthodox Greek Church in Anchorage. Enjoy delectable pastries including the infamous baklava and its many varieties to the tune of original Greek music and sounds. This year enter the chance to win a 2012 Mercedes GLK. On Aug 20, Bernie's Bungalow will be bringing back the annual Summer Haze festival, which includes music by several bands such as Shy Bones, Kill Tango, Men With Guns and DJs Laserwolf, Alex the Lion and Mostly Ghostly, all presented by Huycke Entertainment. Although the original Summer Haze was scheduled for Aug. 6, it was rained out, so those who missed it will have the chance to enjoy outdoor music, drinks and appetizers for $12 a ticket beginning at 3 p.m. and running until well after midnight.

For more original music check out the Trapper Creek Music and Arts festival from Aug. 19 - 21 located off of Susitna River and Bradley Roads. Tickets are pre-sold and only 500 are available, so get your tickets early by emailing bootsbisonranch@gmail.com.
