On Tuesday, a high school principal released information that a body found in a Virginia neighborhood on Friday belonged to a missing teen.
Emylee Arynn Lonczak, 16, a student at McLean High School in Fairfax County was reported missing last Wednesday and on Friday a tip led the police to a body near a pipe stem hidden by bushes in-between two million-dollar homes on the 8200 block of Madrillon Estates Drive in Vienna, reports CBS News.
"Somebody told me that Emylee Lonczak died and I thought it was a strange joke," said Thomas Richards, a classmate.
Back in 2012, Emylee was interviewed by a newspaper after she was hit by a car on her way to school while walking with her twin brother Ethan. Student's parents and the school were concerned with the traffic in the area after Emylee was struck.
"I was hurt decently bad," Emylee told The Highlander. "After I walked all the way to my chemistry class with my brother I went to the clinic where an ambulance was called."
Emylee's death has lead to a criminal investigation into her death. Police are not considering it a homicide, but are concerned that her death may have been caused by drugs, reported ABC 7 DC News in the attached video. The police are waiting for the toxicology reports.
"I can confirm that it is criminal in nature; that detectives are looking into any potential criminal acts that may be involved," Bud Walker of the Fairfax County Police Department told NBC Washington.
