Empty the Shelter Day

There is an incredible event on our horizon, the largest adoption event of it's kind; it's called Empty the Shelter Day.

On Saturday, August 16th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM shelters all across the metropolis will be waiving adoption fees in an effort to save some lives during the very crowded shelter season. The summer is a particularly busy season for shelters; Spring births, people move and may not be able to take their companion with them, etc. This surge causes the numbers of abandoned pets to sore and the majority are unfortunately euthanized. In July Dallas Animal Services was quoted as saying they euthanize 50 to 60 pets every day because they simply do not have room for them all, that's an alarming number.

Well here is your chance to help, go to one of the participating shelters and find your new companion! Spread the word to your friends and family and make this a truly successful event for the Dallas/Fort Worth area!

Here is the website with all of the shelters in and around Dallas/Fort Worth that are taking part in this event.

When you find your perfect companion head over to Big Fix for Big D and check out their free Spay and Neuter services for qualifying zip codes.

Spaying and Neutering your pets is a great way to keep more and more animals out of shelters, Big Fix for Bog D offers these services for dogs and cats that are owned and cats that are free-roaming.
