Employment agencies are a valuable resource for employers and job seekers

Employment agencies offer several services for active job seekers. Most provide listings of employers that have current job openings. Employment recruiters can use these listings to provide referrals to their clients seeking employment. Job seekers can utilize these listings to find open positions. Some of these agencies allow job seekers to upload their resumes and offer the ability to apply for jobs directly from the agency's website.

Another service that employment agencies may provide is links for job providers and seekers for temporary job opportunities. Employers may seek workers on a temporary basis to cover openings such as short term disability of a permanent employee due to illness, personal need for time off, maternity leave, seasonal help and/or vacations. Job seekers who look for temporary employment may be interested in these types of openings or they may view a temporary job as an opportunity to possibly show their value as a possible permanent employee.

Aside from employment agencies that work on a for-profit basis, most states have agencies to help job seekers find employment as part of their unemployment benefits.
