Dunkin' Donuts employee uses hot coffee to stop attempted robbery

A Connecticut man got more than he bargained for when he attempted to rob a drive thru on Saturday night. In fact, he got a face full of it.

The encounter began when the suspect pulled up to the drive thru window of a Dunkin' Donuts in West Haven. The man proceeded to ask the cashier to make change for a $100 bill. The cashier stated she could not make change for the large denomination.

Upon hearing this, the man's motive changed from donuts and coffee to crime.

The man stated he was robbing the location and began climbing in through the window towards the cash register. The cashier reached for the first weapon as her disposal - hot coffee. She threw the coffee into the man's face, forcing him to flee the scene.

The unnamed suspect fled without taking anything from the location.

Police are still searching for the man, described as driving a white Ford Explorer. He's expected to have second degree coffee burns on his face and hands. Witnesses were unable to provide an accurate description of the suspect.
