'Empire Strikes Back' named best sequel in new poll

The Brits love their Star Wars.

According to a survey conducted by British DVD mail-order rental service Lovefilm, The Empire Strikes Back has been named the greatest movie sequel of all time.

Lovefilm conducted the poll to celebrate the release of Iron Man 2 on May 7. Also on the list were Terminator 2: Judgment Day, The Godfather Part II and The Dark Knight.

''There's no beating Star Wars, and fans have been very vocal in our poll to establish its place as the top sequel of all time," says Helen Cowley, editor at Lovefilm. ''Film sequels give us the chance to see our favourite characters back on the big screen but it's rare to find a sequel that truly does its predecessor justice.
