'Empire State' makes world premiere at Gasparilla Film Festival

The 7th installment of the Gasparilla International Film Festival had a true Hollywood atmosphere taking over this past Tuesday night.

With the world premiere of "Empire State" opening up the fest at the Tampa Theatre, the historic landmark was nearly jam-packed with attendees, filmmakers, and celebs. Among those from the film who strolled into town and down the red carpet were director Dito Montiel, producer Randall Emmett, and co-star Michael Angarano.

Mayor Bob Buckhorn also came out to support GIFF, and addressed the crowd prior to the premiere screening encouraging people to keep nurturing the ever-growing fest.

After the credits rolled, GIFF honored Emmett with their Florida producer of the Year award, and he along with Montiel and Angarano, engaged the crowd during a 15 minute Q&A about putting the crime drama together.
