Yesterday (July 27) Empire of the Sun, the Australian electronic music duo of Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore released fall 2011 tour dates in support of their debut album, Walking on a Dream. Their tour will kick off in Moscow, Russia on August 3rd, and conclude on September 18th with the bands Austin City Limits Festival performance. Empire of the Sun will be playing in Chicago, IL on September 14th at the Congress Theater.
The tour is mashed between their heavy 2011 festival circuit, which includes Empire of the Sun performing at, Stereosonic Festival, Virgin Mobile FreeFest, Treasure Island Festival, and Fat As Butter Festival. Empire of the Sun will be touring throughout August and September before taking a three-week break before their Caloundra Festival performance.
Taking out all of their festival dates, Empire of the Sun will only be playing five concerts in North America, which includes the cities of, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Totonto, and in Austin the day before their Austin City Limits performance.
Despite their debut, and only album Walking on a Dream being released on October 4, 2008 the band only recently started touring North America. Their first show happened to be in Chicago, IL at Lollapalooza in 2010. Currently, they have released five singles from their debut album, with the first being the title track. "Walking on a Dream" has commercially been the bands most successful single to date.
Tickets for Empire of the Sun's Chicago, IL show at Congress Theater go on sale July 29th at 10am. Miami Horror will be the opening band, and tickets are $32.00 each. The Congress Theater website states that both the show starts, and doors open at 8pm, and will conclude at 11:30 pm.
