Variety is reporting that "Harry Potter" star Emma Watson is in talks to play the lead role in the new Disney live-action "Cinderella" movie. Talks are in the very early stages and Disney is staying very tight-lipped about the matter.
Besides a live-action version of "Cinderella", Disney is releasing a slew of other fairy-tale related movies like Sam Raimi's "Oz: The Great and Powerful" (which comes out March 8) and "Maleficent", which is set for release in 2014.
Watson was also in talks last year to play Belle in the Guillermo del Toro version of "Beauty and the Beast". The project is still in pre-production and Watson's role has not yet been confirmed.
Watson has been keeping busy post-"Harry Potter" with projects like "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" to which she received positive reviews. She will also be appearing in the David Aronofsky drama "Noah" and Seth Rogen's comedy titled "This is the End".
Production on "Cinderella" is set to begin later this fall.
