Emma Watson is in talks to play “Cinderella,” a new adaptation of the classic tale but she is currently on the other end of the spectrum with her new role in Sofia Coppola’s new film, “The Bling Ring.”
“The Bling Ring” isn’t a story of a rich girl wearing plenty of bling. Emma Watson takes on the role of a thief in the new film.
“The Bling Ring” is based on a true story of a group of young adults who break into homes to steal. The thieves slithered into homes of several celebrities, including Rachel Bilson, Orlando Bloom, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton. The strange note on Paris Hilton’s home being robbed is that now she will play a role in the film – as a thief.
The film is based on a Vanity Fair article by Nancy Jo Sales, titled “The Suspects Wore Louboutins.”
Emma Watson will play the materialistic character that is the leader of the fame-obsessed group that goes to the homes of the stars with glitter in their eyes for jewelry, clothing, art and other items belonging to celebrities. The actual group ended up with about $3 million in high-class items in 2008 and 2009. The thieves would use the Internet to track celebrities locations in order to steal their personal belongings.
Watson is definitely out of the “Hermoine” role in “Harry Potter” in this film.
