Emma Watson shoots down 'Fifty Shades of Grey' rumors again

"I haven’t read the book, I haven’t a read a script, nothing. There are so many movies you become attached to when I’ve literally never even received a phone call. It was the same way with 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' – I never even saw a script!"

That was Emma Watson's response last year when rumors pegged her for the role of Anastasia Steele in an adaptation of E L James' popular erotic novel, Fifty Shades of Grey. The talk has persisted despite her denials, and it spiked again earlier this week when the hacker group Anonymous leaked studio information saying she was attached to the role. Now Watson has again been forced to shoot down any such talk, making it quite plain she has no desire to have anything to do with it. She tweeted...

"Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life."

For some reason, there seems to be a real desire for the Harry Potter actress to do something edgier and more adult. Watson has already begun doing that, taking on the R-rated comedy This Is the End with Seth Rogen, and Sofia Coppola's crime drama The Bling Ring.

It's possible that Focus Features has already made their decision and is merely keeping it under wraps for now. They'll want to get started on the film soon in order to have it ready by summer 2014 as planned.
