On Sept. 3, Emma Watson attended the GQ Men of the Year awards looking nothing like the innocent Hermione Granger of "Harry Potter" fame. In fact, when the nymph-like actress showed up at The Royal Opera House in London, this British subject shocked certain sartorial watchers as she showed off her bare and very toned tummy.
According to Red Carpet Fashion Awards, Emma's midriff moment was thanks to a cutting edge Balenciaga ensemble that comes from the designer's resort 2014 collection.
So what did fashion pundits think of this sophisticated yet sexy look worn by the popular actress when she went to the GQ awards?
Well, the off-white silk serge bolero top paired with plain black trousers and sequin-laden sling-backs definitely had sartorial types talking, and not necessarily in a good way.
For instance, Huffington Post remarked that the black-and-white look on Emma Watson was "perplexing" to some. Indeed, this style watching site reported that "dumbfounded" reactions to this thespian's fashion choice were on order in London on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Hollywood Life called the Balenciaga fashion statement worn by Watson "questionable" but in the same breath the publication's writer decided that this celebrity was able to take what she had chosen to wear to this high profile event and actually "pull it off."
So what do you think?
Take a look at the Examiner slide show and determine whether or not Emma Watson's GQ awards style was sartorially satisfying or simply a sartorial flop. At the same time, consider whether this artist's tummy baring fashion situation was too much or simply fine while keeping with yet another wearable trend of the current fall season.
