While Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers has attracted the most attention, there's another group bad girls (and dudes) whose story is hitting the big screen this year, and this one has the benefit of being ripped from the actual headlines. Emma Watson makes her clearest break from Harry Potter yet in The Bling Ring, the latest look at celebrity-obsessed culture from Sofia Coppola.
Known for more dramatic, moodier efforts like The Virgin Suicides, Somewhere, and Lost in Translation, Coppola's not aiming for subtlety here. Jacked up with the sounds of Sleigh Bells' 'Crown on the Ground', the new trailer is an energetic mix of club hoppin', wild parties, street racing, and brazen acts of theft. The story follows a group of Beverly Hills teens who went "shopping" by breaking into the homes of celebrities. The cameo-laden film features an appearance by Paris Hilton, who was also the gang's most notable victim. That's just so hot. Speaking of "hot", we've never seen Watson vamp it up like this before, and it'll be interesting to see if her fans want to see her in this way.
Also starring Taissa Farmiga, Leslie Mann, Katie Chang, Gavin Rossdale, and Israel Broussard, The Bling Ring opens on June 14th.
