Although some reports are saying that Marshall Mathers, better known as Eminem, was high during a Sept. 7, 2013, halftime booth interview at the Notre Dame vs. Michigan game with Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit, he looks like he's just trying to be comical and, according to Bleacher Report, jokes he is freaked out by live television.
As the video interview begins, Eminem appears to be staring into space with his mouth slightly ajar, when Musburger asks him about one of his music videos.
According to Fansided at SI.com, Eminem “appeared to be incredibly high on some sort of drug—or concoction of sorts—as he could barely keep his balance…”
Eminem does look around and acts like he can’t hear what Musburger just asked, but he looks to be joking more than anything else.
Eventually he responds to Musburger, saying, “Yeah, sorry… live TV freaks me out a little bit… I’m sorry, what was the question?”
Eminem was there to promote his new song “Berzerk,” as Musburger, who called him “Mathers,” announces he would perform live at halftime next week on ABC during another televised game.
Musburger also asks the rapper if he would predict whether the Lions would cover 4 ½ Sunday against Minnesota, to which Eminem replies, “I’m not sure, man… I don’t ever make a prediction on the Lions because I don’t ever want to jinx it, but I’m such a die hard Lions fans… to the core, so, yes they will…”
Eminem also tells Musburger during the interview that he has him on his fantasy announcers team along with the late Pat Summerall , John Madden, and Al Michaels, and notes if they could all somehow get together and call a Lion’s game, it would be “a dream come true.”
