Wickersham, whose credits include The Sopranos and The Bridge, will join the cast on the November 19th NCIS episode 'Gut Check'.
Harmon, who plays Leroy Jethro Gibbs and is an Executive Producer, mentioned during Friday's CBS International Press junket that a new actress had been cast as permanent. “We’re all intrigued and satisfied with the actress,” said Harmon, without naming names. “We’re thrilled to have her.”
The cast opening became available when actress Cote de Pablo left the show in July after contract negotiations broke down. de Pablo played NCIS Special Agent Ziva David, and she had been with the successful TV drama for eight seasons. de Pablo's character and Michael Weatherly's character Special Agent Tony DiNozzo had a "will they/won't they" flirtation for the majority of that timeframe, culminating in this year's episode 'Past, Present, Future'.
Matt Mitovich spoke with Gary Glasberg, NCIS Showrunner and Executive Producer, who said he's drawn to the new Bishop character because of the way she looks at the world.
“She looks at things in a global way — and that’s true of personal lives as well as the work. She will shed some light on...the way that politics and terrorism and crimes are handled. She possesses...an intellectual, smart way to approach doing what this team does — not with kicks and punches and knocking down doors but by really thinking. She’s very much a thinker.” - Gary Glasberg of 'Ellie Bishop'
Eleanor “Ellie” Bishop will come to NCIS from the National Security Administration (NSA) specializing in international threat assessment and global preparation.
