Emily Maynard’s up and coming “Bachelorette” season is already sparking controversy and it hasn't started filming yet. The single mom is as sweet as can be, but she's someone that stays clear of friction and arguing. The fans tune in to see the drama and it's normally a big part of the show. Chris Harrison believes there's a different kind of drama brewing for Emily as a single mother, but does this have a potential for Emily to suffer a broken heart?
In his recent interview with Reality TV World, Chris did serve up a clue as to the different type of drama that may end up on the show. He said that the “Bachelorette” bachelors might just choose to walk away from the 25 year-old single mom because they're not ready to take on the responsibility of being a step-dad.
Emily is the first single mom in the history of the “Bachelorette” and it sounds as if the producers do realize this will be a different ball of wax for the reality show. Emily, whose main concern is being a role model for her 6 year-old daughter, will probably not participate in the serial make-out sessions often seen on the show.
The scenes of late night hot tub visits and the very sensual “fantasy suite” option are a few other areas that most fans would expect Emily to stay clear from.
Now that the men need to size up their readiness to potentially fill the role of a step-dad, this could bring in the drama from a different angle then before, but drama never-the-less.
It would be heartbreaking to see Emily fall for a guy on the “Bachelorette” and have the step-father baggage be a deal breaker. It sounds like with this new type of drama comes the very real possibility of Emily getting hurt. If she falls in love but ends up alone because the guy's not ready to be a father, this could be heart breaking.
Chris believes that Emily needs to find a man similar to Brad Womack, who was excited to settle down with Emily and be a step-dad to her daughter. The break-up had nothing to do with Emily coming along with a daughter. Emily did say at the end of their relationship that she really loved Brad it's just that their lifestyles were too polarized to work.
Connecticut fans of the “Bachelorette” can tune into Connecticut’s ABC Channel at 8pm EST when Emily's season airs. The “Bachelorette” takes over the time slot that’s used for Ben’s “Bachelor” season today.
