It's been four years since the release of the fourth installment in the 'Terminator' franchise: 'Terminator Salvation,' and a fifth film is now in the works. Little is known about the plot at this point, but Arnold Shwarzenegger is said to reprise his role as the emotionless T-800. A few other casting rumors have surfaced and one has been confirmed.
The coveted roll of Sarah Connor was rumored to be a heated race between three candidates: Brie Larson from '21 Jump Street' and Scott Pilgrim vs The World,' Margot Robbie, the break out star from 'The Wolf of Wall Street,' and Emilia Clarke, famous for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in the acclaimed series 'Game of Thrones' on HBO. It was announced and confirmed, on December 13, that Emilia Clarke would be taking up the role made famous by Linda Hamilton in James Cameron's 'Terminator.'
Other characters are rumored to make an appearance in the film as well. Sarah Connor's son John, first portrayed by Edward Furlong in 1991's 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day,' is rumored to be played by Jason Clarke, known for his role in 'Zero Dark Thirty.' The role of John's father, Kyle Reese, first portrayed by Michael Biehn in 'Terminator' and then by Anton Yelchin in 'Terminator: Salvation,' has a slew of actors rumored to be in the runnings. Garret Hedlund, Taylor Kitsch, Boyd Holbrook, and Nicholas Hoult are just some of the actors said to be circling the role.
It seems that the pre-production machine is in full swing so more casting and script details should be just around the corner.
