The “Terminator” will be back in theatres in July 2015 and a new report suggests two hot actresses are frontrunners for the role of franchise matriarch Sarah Connor.
Deadline reported today that “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke and “21 Jump Street” actress Brie Larson are the top choices to join Arnold Schwarzenegger in the franchise’s fifth installment. Clarke has earned rave reviews for her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen in HBO’s popular fantasy series based on George R.R. Martin’s books, while Larson most recently appeared in a pair of acclaimed indie films, “Short Term 12” and “The Spectacular Now.”
The upcoming “Terminator” movie is scheduled to be directed by Alan Taylor, who recently directed the Marvel blockbuster “Thor: The Dark World” and has helmed several episodes of “Game of Thrones,” “Mad Men,” and other cable dramas. Although plot details for the new “Terminator” film are being kept under wraps, Deadline reported that both Kyle Reese -- the man sent back from the future to stop the Terminator in the original film -- and John Connor are scheduled to appear in the film, although their roles have not yet been cast. Deadline also says that “completion of this franchise is expected to span at least two films.”
