Emge, Menard crowned TriWaco champs

WACO, TX – Emge and Menard dominate running of the 33rd TriWaco Olympic distance (1.5-km swim, 40-mile bike, 10-km run) triathlon.

The men’s race -

Clay Emge, 29, of Tyler, TX, came from sixth place, after the swim portion, with second best bike and run splits to outpace Keith Kotar, 23, of Weatherford, TX, by nearly five minutes. Seth Cooke, 33, of Tyler, TX, crossed the line a minute later to take the third spot on the podium.

The women’s race –

Katrina Menard, 31, of Norman, OK crushed the women’s field by leading the race wire-to-wire with race day best splits for the swim, bike, and run. Laurie Hadley, 53, of Ft. Collins, Colorado, placed second overall for the ladies and took home the overall female Masters title. Hometown favorite Krystle Grand, 28, of Waco, TX use a swift bike split to move up several spots on the field to finish third overall.
