Just when you thought the anti-gun nuts couldn't get any more desperate or absurd, here comes Ken James, Chief of Police in Emeryville, CA.
I had to pause and rewind the video multiple times to make sure I heard everything correctly, unfortunately I had. Here's is the transcript:
“One issue that always boggles my mind is that the idea that a gun is a defensive weapon, that is a myth. A gun is not a defensive weapon. A gun is an offensive weapon used to intimidate and show power. Police officers don’t carry a gun as a defensive weapon to defend themselves or their other officers. They carry a gun to be able to do their job in a safe and effective manner and face any oppositions we may come upon.” He then added, " If it was a defensive measure why did we lose 55 officers to gun violence nationwide last year. Unfortunately in just the first 2 month s of this year alone to gun violence in CA alone. We deal with gun violence on a daily basis and we are just asking and have been asking for reasonable regulations, not that will impact the legal gun owner but to help keep our officers and communities safe."
Now lets break it down. If an officer is shot at and then uses his weapon, he is using it in a defensive manner. Saying a gun is not a defensive weapon is an exercise in stupidity and shows a lack of understanding that rivals that of an infant.
The next part of his statement is a little more disturbing and gives insight into how law enforcement thinks. His philosophy is that a gun is an offensive weapon used to intimidate and show power. That reminds of me a quote, "Power grows out of the barrel of a gun,", who said that? Mao Zedong. So we have a Chief of Police who subscribes to the same school of thought as a man who killed 50 or so million of his own people. Fantastic. Is our clone of Hitler almost done too?
