Emeril Lagasse to be "Grilled" at The Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami Beach

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami sure knows the meaning of saving the best for last!

At 8 p.m. Saturday, The Arsht Center closes it’s very successful “Celebrity Chef Series” with the biggest fish of them all, Emeril Lagasse. You know, the elebrity chef, restaurateur, television star, best-selling author, James Beard Award winner, Johnson and Wales University graduate, and creator of the “New New Orleans” Cajun and Creole cuisine.

Lagasse and long time pal and the King of South Florida’s New World Cuisine, Norman Van Aken, will appear on stage together for an amazing night of discovery and cooking demonstrations! Chef Norman Van Aken will host the evening “grilling,” his friend Emeril who will not only demonstrate recipes from his latest book; “Emeril at the Grill: A Cookbook for All Seasons,” he will also feature dishes utilizing South Florida ingredients.

Lagasse will also be sharing his fascinating life as a chef, providing audience members a live ‘Emerology’ event!

Norman Van Aken commented on his blog the other day: “It is a great joy to have been friends with Emeril so long already, 21 years and growing in fact. This coming Saturday I will have the role of interviewer to my old buddy I will be in the luckiest seat in the entire Arsht Theater. To see the dance that goes on in his eyes while his great mind whirs on all cylinders is pure fun. I hope I don't crack up too much with laughter myself.” It seems Van Aken is as excited for the evening as the legions of Emeril fans that will be in attendance!

It’s not too late to purchase tickets to see this culinary legend Emeril Lagasse live. Great seats are still available however it’s just a little late to get your hands on the coveted VIP seats. VIP seats bought ticket holders the opportunity to personally meet and take a photo with the celebrity chefs during a post-show cocktail party. Remember these VIP seats for next year’s series and purchase tickets early.

So what’s upcoming for both Chef Norman Van Aken and Chef Emeril Lagasse here in Miami? Chef Van Aken has a brand new “baby” on the way! Yes, like a brand new infant’s arrival, the anticipation of Van Aken’s newest project is just as exciting to South Florida! Scheduled for opening right in the heart of Coral Gables in the Westin Colonnade Hotel at 180 Aragon Avenue, “Norman’s 180” is about to be born. The due date is March 1, 2010. Van Aken will be working with his son, Justin, who is teaching Dad about sustainability and the ever important farm-to-table concept. This is a very exciting novel endeavor for the Miami food landscape. Let’s hope as so goes Norman’s 180, so goes the rest of restaurants here in Miami! Look for more information about this exciting opening soon.

Chef Lagasse returns to Miami this February joining Chef Van Aken at The South Beach Wine and Food Festival.
