A Mount Arlington, N.J., dog, whose paw was hopelessly stuck inside of a recliner, had to be freed with the jaws of life, reported Wednesday's publication of NJ.com.
The strange incident took place on the night of Sept. 4, when a family's husky somehow got his foot trapped inside of the electric recliner. The panic-stricken dog lashed out at the family members who tried to help, resulting in bites to a mother and her son.
Unable to free the dog, the family reached out for assistance.
Firefighters from Mount Arlington responded, as did two animal control officers and the police. The frightened dog was muzzled and kept calm by the officers, while the fire fighters worked to take the recliner apart.
Finally, after working for several hours, the jaws of life were utilized to cut the back of the chair off, and the dog was finally free.
According to the publication, all of the officials who responded to help free the dog had to be decontaminated for bedbugs after the situation was resolved.
