A passenger aboard a flight to Oregon tried to open the emergency exit door during the plane's descent. Passengers say they could hear a loud hissing noise as he tried to push open the door. The flight crew, along with passengers, jumped to restrain this man, according to “Fox and Friends” live on Tuesday May 28, 2013.

According to USA Today on Sunday, passengers said the 23-year-old man “made unusual statements” during the Alaskan Airline flight that originated in Alaska and headed for Oregon. 'Men and women jumped from their seats to help take Alexander Herrera, “a big man” down and away from the door. Once they got him in a seat, they secured him by tying his legs up with shoe laces, which the flight attendants provided.

Herrera sat “calmly” the rest of the flight surrounded by “big guys,” said passenger Henry Pignataro. Herrera was taken into custody on the ground in Oregon on a charge of interfering with a flight crew. The flight was only nine minutes late getting into Oregon after this incident.

Passengers reported that Herrera looked disheveled and that his shirt wasn't buttoned correctly. One man said to Fox News during a live interview over the phone that he doesn't know what the man was going through, but he looked to be having a tough time.
