About 600 new jobs are coming to Florida. According to a release dated October 29 from the Office of Governor Rick Scott, Embrarer will manufacture its Legacy 450 and 500 planes at Melbourne International Airport. The release said, “Their decision to invest in the Space Coast will ultimately create 600 jobs and will generate $28 million in capital investment for equipment.”
Laura Holton was pleased with the announcement. She waits tables near the airport and hopes it will generate more customers. "I depend on people have jobs to make my living. If people are making good money, hopefully they will spend it in my restaurant and leave me big tips," said Holton.
Richard Benson works in a nearby store. "This is wonderful. I am glad a large employer is moving to my area because it will mean more customers at my store. And this might mean a promotion for me," said Benson.
