Embracing a new age

Some who consider themselves authorities on the topic proclaim that we have already entered a new age. The Age of Aquarius, a time whose dawning was joyfully put to music by a group with a futuristic name. Have we entered that age or are we just fooling ourselves?

Things seem different to a lot of people. Look how far we've come. We have not only elected our first part African-American president, we have re-elected him. We're taking a much closer look at our personal behaviors, especially our fears. Do we all need to be armed to the tee to feel safe? Gun control is a topic that needs to be discussed and we are discussing it!

People are more open about religion and more and more people are not claiming association with one particular religion, but picking and choosing to develop a way of life that works for the individual or for the family unit. We're less likely to wonder what God our neighbor serves and more apt to realize that we're all in this together and we're trying to learn from one another.

Thanks to the internet and new opportunities in learning, everyone is more educated. Virtually everyone in our country has access to social media making us a more connected and more aware society. We have learned new ways to make money and new ways to gain access to knowledge.

It's exciting and it's what happening now. Let's embrace this new awakening!
