It's no wonder Lois Lerner warned her colleagues about using email. On Wednesday, The Blaze reported that emails uncovered by the House Ways and Means Committee may give new insight into the mindset of the central figure in the IRS targeting scandal. The emails reveal that Lerner hates conservatives, referred to them as "a**holes" and falsely claimed conservatives would "take us down."
A November 2012 email Lerner received apparently referred to conservatives as the "whacko wing of the GOP." The unidentified sender said conservatives complained of “too many foreigners sucking the teat,” and that “right wing radio shows are scary to listen to.”
“Great," Lerner replied. "Maybe we are through if there are that many a**holes.”
“And I’m talking about the hosts of the shows," the sender said in response. "The callers are rabid.”
“So we don’t need to worry about alien terrorists," Lerner said. "It’s our own crazies that will take us down.”
Rep. Dave Camp, R-Mich., chairman of the committee, said the emails show Lerner has a “deep animus towards conservatives.” He also said they may explain the motivation for targeting conservative groups seeking a tax-exempt status.
“This email shows that Ms. Lerner’s mistreatment of conservative groups was driven by her personal hostility toward conservatives,” Camp told Attorney General Eric Holder in a letter. ”This new evidence clearly demonstrates why Ms. Lerner not only targeted conservatives, but denied such groups their rights to due process and equal protection under the law.”
Camp also said his committee learned that Lerner personally ordered the IRS to audit Karl Rove's "Crossroads GPS." She also hinted at possibly seeking a job with the far left wing Organizing For Action, a group set up to help re-elect Barack Obama.
“While the Committee has not seen any evidence of a serious investigation by your department, it is my sincere hope that in light of this new, strong evidence that you immediately begin aggressively investigating this matter or appoint a special counsel,” Camp said. “Failure to do so will only further erode public trust in not only the IRS, but the department as well.”
But Holder has shown little interest in getting to the bottom of the situation. Moreover, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., said the DOJ is working to undermine Congressional action in the matter.
“Earlier this year, unnamed Justice Department officials leaked information to the Wall Street Journal suggesting that the department does not plan to file criminal charges over the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups,” he said. “On Super Bowl Sunday, President Obama stated that there was ‘not even a smidgen of corruption’ in connection with the IRS’s admitted targeting of conservative groups based upon their beliefs.”
In February 2011, we first said that liberalism, at its core, is an ideology of rage and hate. Now it appears Lerner's hatred of conservatives was the motivation for targeting individuals and groups opposed to Obama's agenda.
