Emaciated young dog found in NJ woods allegedly beaten to death

A young female pit bull was found dead Wednesday night, and Egg Harbor Township police and Atlantic County SPCA officials are now looking for its owner.

Discovered in the woods behind the Norms-Dale Mobile Home Park, the emaciated dog appears to have either frozen or been beaten to death.

A hunter reported seeing a man walking out of the woods that night wearing a red jacket and tan pants. The hunter heard a dog whimpering, then saw the man go back into the woods.

A loud noise was heard, then silence.

"It’s horrific really; absolutely disgusting, and there's no excuse for it, none whatsoever. That dog suffered and I think it was probably beaten. Nothing should be treated like that."

The owner is believed to live in the mobile home park, and some residents think they may know who it is.

Beall states:

"There is jail time allowed - up to six months and there's no reason that they wouldn't get it. If I can prove my case, they should go to jail."

A reward is being offered for information leading to the person responsible. Report it to the Atlantic County SPCA at (609) 927-9059.
