A deceased 5 to 7 year old male pit bull was discovered in an alley in Omaha, Nebraska on January 13, 2103. He was wrapped in sheets and a pair of jeans, according to KETV. The pit bull was emaciated and appears to have starved to death.
Officials believe the dog was dumped in the alley but taken from another location. The Nebraska Humane Society is seeking the public's help in finding the person(s) responsible. The pit bull was found near North 32nd and Decatur Street.
The necropsy revealed starvation but veterinarians were unable to determine if the dog had frozen to death or if the body was frozen after-the-fact in the cold temperatures in the alley.
The Nebraska Humane Society is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. The person responsible, if found and convicted, faces a felony animal cruelty charge and could see up to 5 years in prison.
If you have any information, please call the Nebraska Humane Society at 402-444-7800.
