A female poodle mix was found on October 15, 2013 wrapped in a plastic shopping bag, near death in Springfield, Mass. The dog, now named Buffy, was found at a construction site, dumped in a pit that was to be filled with concrete. Had the good Samaritan not found her, she would have been buried alive.
The emaciated poodle was evaluated by a veterinarian at the Dakin Humane Society in Springfield and was found to be anemic and in poor health. She was originally estimated to be three years old but is suspected to be much older than that. More tests are planned to evaluate her health.
The MSPCA Law Enforcement is searching the neighborhood where Buffy was found and interviewing home owners in the area for possible leads.
“Our understanding is that this dog was placed or thrown into a pit at the construction site that was to be backfilled, which would have killed her and prevented her body from ever being found,” said MSPCA-Angell Law Enforcement Officer Christine Allenberg.
