Emaciated dog covered in mange discovered behind Eatontown, NJ apartments

UPDATE 1/9/14: According to nj.com, Danny is being treated at the Monmouth County SPCA. Food is being introduced slowly - he weighs 33 pounds, about 20-25 lbs. underweight. He is taking medication and being bathed twice a week for a severe skin condition. Witnesses reported seeing a white 4-door sedan (possibly an Acura) in the area where he was dumped, which may or may not be involved. A $1,000 reward is now being offered for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

A pit bull, less than a year old, was found in terrible condition behind the Stony Hill Apartments in Eatontown, New Jersey at 11 p.m. Monday night.

The dog, dubbed Danny by the Monmouth County SPCA, was dehydrated, emaciated, and covered in mange. He was taken to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Tinton Falls for emergency care, where he was stabilized.

Authorities are now searching for his owner and anyone with information is asked to call Amato at (732) 312-7153. According to nj.com, Amato states that there are suspects but no arrests have been made.
