UPDATE: Sadly Little Girl died in her sleep last night. Run free!

A female boxer, found in the subfreezing weather in Garfield Heights, Ohio is still in very guarded condition; her emaciated frame hardly able to stand up while shivering uncontrollably last week when a Good Samaritan spotted her and called police.

"Little Girl" was turned over to Garfield Heights Animal Control, and since then the Garfield and Maple Heights Animal Rescue Team have taken over her care and treatment, even though the dog legally remains in the custody of Animal Control until a judge decides her future.

Little Girl's owner, Nevada Williams has been charged with animal cruelty and abandonment. Williams, 43, called the dog, whose named is Coco, in as a stray.

Authorities were able to tie Williams in as Coco's owner from a veterinarian in Columbus who had recently removed one of the dog's eyes because of cancer. Another boxer dog was also removed from Williams' home.

On Tuesday, Little Girl had been making excellent progress, with the rescue team posting the following positive update:

"Little Girl is doing well. She is more alert and curious every day. We have been working to figure out which foods she really likes, so that we can provide her with as much nutrition as possible. She really like boiled chicken, and REALLY like's Nature's Variety Instinct Raw foods!"

On Thursday, however a troubling short post appeared:

"Please take a moment to say a prayer and send some healing thoughts Little Girl's way tonight. She is not feeling well and is really struggling."

Hopefully, Little Girl's setback is only temporary. Animal lovers can follow the organization's Facebook where photos are being posted frequently.
