Elvis spoof: Johnny Bravo

Johnny Bravo was a vain, narcissistic, and not too intelligent Elvis Presley look-alike and Fonzi act- alike, whose personality was nevertheless endearing.  The harmless nature of his conceit can be seen as he primps before the mirror, and heard through his comments.  For example, when he was captured by a bear who threatened to eat him, Johnny quickly and sincerely retorted, “I’m too purdy to eat.”

He constantly chased women.  He was cocky, but clueless, and not the most successful at tracking down love interests.  He often chose the wrong women; ones with boyfriends.  In a short before the series actually began, he could be seen pursuing a female zookeeper by attempting to capture a runaway gorilla.  Johnny would feverishly stoop to any level.

Jeff Bennett is Johnny Bravo.  Bravo’s mother’s voice is that of Brenda Vaccaro, television star for many years.  Mark Hamill can be heard as King Raymond.

The show was created by Van Partible in 1997 for the Cartoon Network, and is seen as a 1990s classic.  It ran for seven years with reruns following, even returning to Cartoon Network in 2009.  The show can be currently seen on Boomerang.
