Elvis Presley's tooth crown to be sold at auction

February 17, 2012-

Elvis memorabilia collectors are going to have the very unique opportunity to own an exclusive piece of the king soon, for the right price that is.

A dental mold of Elvis Presley's mouth will be auctioned off next week expecting to bring in around $16,000, the mold also includes an extra crown of one of king's teeth.

DR. Henry J. Weiss, Elvis' dentist kept the plaster mold he made of Elvis Presley, which also contains an extra crown. Weiss claimed he kept the mold on hand and ready should the King ever accidentally chip a tooth. He labeled the mold " the king's crown."

Weiss remained Presley's dentist until 1971, doing all of Elvis' dental work, including the porcelain crown for his front tooth.

The dental mold proved to be a great asset and necessity in February 1971 when Elvis accidentally cracked his tooth on a microphone while playing at the 'International Hotel,' now known as the 'Hilton hotel,' in Las Vegas.

The mold of Elvis Presley's teeth is currently encased in a custom glass display case awaiting sale according to the Daily Mail News.

Auction house rep Paul Fairweather stated "Following on from John Lennon's tooth back in November which sold for ove $19,000, we were extremely excited at the consignment of this truly unique item from the King of Rock & Roll.

"Whilst it is not a real tooth, as the case of the Lennon tooth, it is the only one in existence and we expect there to be considerable interest."

The Elvis Presley tooth auction will take place in Stockport, England on February 25, 2012.

Will you be bidding on Elvis' tooth?
