Elvis Presley birthday celebration at Elvis Fest in Chicago

During his career, Elvis Presley’s music challenged social and racial barriers. He was labeled, criticized for his leg gyrations, and his death was mocked with scandal. Yet he is known worldwide by just one name and his Graceland home in Memphis is one of the largest tourist attractions in the country.

On January 8, 2012, Elvis would’ve celebrated his 77th birthday.

In honor of Elvis, and for all the Elvis fans, the annual Elvis Fest will once again be held at The Original Mother’s in Chicago.

This event features Elvis impersonators from around the country.

The $5 donation cover includes a peanut butter and banana buffet, one of Elvis’ favorite combinations. Cooked in a fry pan or griddle, the famous Elvis sandwich consists of toasted bread slices with peanut butter, sliced banana, fried bacon and sometimes a splash of honey.
