Elton Rewind: 'Cold As Christmas (In the Middle of the Year)' from 1983 (VIDEO)

It's not a Christmas song, but having Christmas in the title gave me an excuse to post another of Elton John's classic videos for our readers. This one is "Cold As Christmas (In the Middle of the Year)" from the 1983 album Too Low For Zero.

Unless you are a hardcore Elton John fan, you may not know this sad song about a love gone stale.

And I call the kids on the telephone
Say there's something wrong out here
It's July but it's cold as Christmas
In the middle of the year

In 1983, Elton had a comeback with Too Low For Zero, "I'm Still Standing" and "I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues" being two very sucessful tunes from that album - along with clever music videos that are now classics of the '80s. Enjoy the video, with Elton sans eyeglasses and sporting his favorite hat of the period, a straw boater.

Merry Christmas!
