After a lifetime of highly popular performances Elton John is planning something new with a live performance at the Emmy Awards. News.com.au reported on Sept. 10, 2013,
"Elton John to perform Liberace tribute at Emmy Awards." On Monday the television academy announced that at 66 years old Elton John will make his Emmy debut with a performance as a tribute to Liberace.
The life story of Liberace is told in HBO's "Behind the Candelabra." This movie earned 15 Emmy nominations, which have included lead-actor bids for Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, who played Liberace and his lover Scott Thorson. Douglas and Damon will also be serving as presenters at the September 22 Emmy ceremony.
E! Online has reported "Elton John is coming to the Emmys!" Sir Elton will clearly be among the most famous entertainers during the biggest night of the year for the television industry. It seems like a perfect choice for one of the most consistently talented entertainers of this era to pay a tribute to another entertainer who was likewise so unusually talented during his lifetime.
