Elton John held his 20th annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party last night and raised a staggering $5 million for the fight against AIDS. The star-studded celebrity charity event attracted a who’s who of Hollywood while providing an evening of entertainment for a good cause.
In addition to a live auction, guests were treated to a once-in-a-lifetime performance by Foster The People as well as swag from various food and drink vendors including Godiva Chocolates and CIROC Vodka. The sit down dinner included entertaining speeches and a live auction which kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
Celebrity guests were treated to an exciting live auction where household names such as Katy Perry and Steven Tisch got into a bidding war over cooking lessons with celebrity chef Cora. Although Steven Tisch outbid Katy Perry with his final bid of $80,000, the pair chatted and decided to split the auction lot for $100,000 or $50,000 each. This was great news for the Elton John AIDS Foundation which was able to raise extra money for HIV/AIDS because of Katy Perry and Steven Tisch’s agreement.

The Elton John AIDS Foundation has worked hard over the past twenty years. The charity organization announced today that since 1992 they have raised over $225 million for front-line HIV/AIDS programs in fifty-five countries around the world.
