Sir Elton John’s appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Tuesday night was full of revelations. Not only did British singer plug his latest album, “The Diving Board”, and reveal his disdain towards modern technology, he also made another announcement. As E! Online reports on October 9, John expects to marry long time partner David Furnish in 2014.
As the new English law legalizing same-sex marriage is set to take place in May 2014, the musical legend told Jimmy Kimmel that he expects that he and Furnish will be one of the first gay couples to tie the knot.
The 66-year-old has waited for the day he could legally wed in his country and now that the day is coming, he is ready to start the next chapter in his relationship with Furnish.
“If the laws are gonna help us again, as a famous gay couple we will do it. It’s our duty to do it to make sure everyone knows that this is something that’s a gift that we never dream we’d ever get."
John and Furnish have been together for 20 years. The two entered a civil partnership in 2005 and now have two kids. John admitted that marriage would be another huge step, but one that he is more than ready to embrace.
