Elmo along with Al Roker and Deborah Roberts educate about the economic crisis

Elmo that furry lovable red monster is set to help families deal with the economic crisis on September 9th. The Sesame Street character voiced by Kevin Clash will join TV News celebrities Al Roker and Deborah Roberts in a PBS special targetting families with children aged 2 to 8.

The show is designed to educate those who have suffered a job loss or who have taken an income loss due to the current economic climate. "Families Stand Together: Feeling Secure in Tough Times" is a Sesame Street special that will air on PBS stations at 8 pm eastern time.

Al Roker and Deborah Roberts will join Elmo as he learns about cutting back and why his family will be eating at home more, playing games at home and why they have to cancel a trip to an amusement park. Producers of the special say the show is directed at both parents and children for the purposes of education.

Finance expert Jean Chatzky will make an appearance on the show and offer advice about personal finance.

"Families Stand Together: Feeling Secure in Tough Times" airs on PBS September 9th at 8 pm eastern. Set the date to watch it with your family.
