The Elmira Jackals (ECHL) announced on Friday that they have come to an affiliation agreement with the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League. The Devils will become the second NHL team affiliate of the Jackals, joining the Ottawa Senators for the 2013-2014 season.
Five members of the Devils organization will be on the roster tonight when the Jackals open their season against the Wheeling Nailers. Maxime Clermont, who had been loaned to Elmira last season, has been reassigned from the Albany Devils (AHL) along with Riley Boychuk, Harry Young and Raman Hrabarenka. Clermont finished 10-13-5 in his first stint with Elmira, finishing his 41 games played with a .899 SV%.
Defenseman Harry Young has combined for 72 games while playing with Trenton and Kalamazoo. He has three goals and nine assists along with 134 penalty minutes.
The Jackals finished second in the Atlantic last season with 87 points but were eliminated from playoff contention in the first round. Since joining the ECHL in 2007, the Jackals have earned two regular season titles, three Division Championships and have been Conference Champions twice.
Elmira will open their season at home next Friday when they host the Reading Royals at First Arena.
