According to a March 15 report from MMA Mania, the UFC 158 weigh-ins are now complete, and all main card fighters made weight without incident.
UFC 158 will feature unfinished business between reigning welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and Stockton bad boy Nick Diaz, while Johny Hendricks tries to keep himself at the top of the contender's list by fighting Carlos Condit.
Also on the main card, Jake Ellenberger fights Nate Marquardt.
All fighters competing on the historic UFC 158 card hit their respective weights without issue, but a compelling storyline emerged with Hendricks and Ellenberger both deciding to sport Montreal Canadiens gear during the weigh-ins.
In the main event, it's clear that St-Pierre doesn't need to do much to earn applause from the Montreal crowd.
St-Pierre is a native of Canada, so he already has the crowd's respect. As for the other main card fighters, Hendricks and Ellenberger both attempted to pull the old trick of sporting the home team's jersey to win over the Montreal crowd over.
Hendricks is from Oklahoma, and Ellenberger is from Nebraska. Neither man appears to have any ties to Canada, so they hope to pick up some crowd energy by showing support for the Canadiens.
It's unclear at this time if Hendricks and Ellenberger are true Canadiens fans, or if they were just playing up to the crowd.
Time well tell if their tactics will work, but one would think it can't hurt to have the crowd on your side. UFC 158 takes place on March 16 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
