Mark Mendelson, President and CEO of Ellen Tracy, held a fabulous talk this weekend at Macy's Dadeland. The Ellen Tracy sportswear line is sold exclusively at Macy's. Mark, who has headed the brand for the past two years, was both informative and entertaining.
He held court on a small riser, while his audience was seated at small bistro tables with waiters bringing edible treats like mini cupcakes and appetizers. The scene could have very easily been at a quaint restaurant or private home.
Mark told the Ellen Tracy story, while models casually strolled around, allowing guests to feel the materials and check out the offerings up close. He made a strong case for the brand, pointing out styling details that are usually found in collections that are found at much higher price points. The Spring 2010 Ellen Tracy line, already being shown at Macy's, has an average price of $75. Key items include the basic white shirt, leggings, slim pants, and tunic dresses. One of the most unique features of the collection are multi-hued pieces that blend colors, making them much more practical. Practicality seems to be a key factor is the production of Ellen Tracy, always looking to simplify without sacrificing detailing or the luxurious feel of the fabrics.
After his talk, he graciously took questions from the audience, posed for pictures, and helped women shop. Lancome was also present, giving mini makeovers and tips.
Locally, the Ellen Tracy line can be found at Macy's in Dadeland Mall, Aventura Mall, Galleria Mall, Pembroke Lakes Mall, and Boca Town Center, as well as at www.Macys.com.
