Sofia Vergara is the face -- and more -- of Diet Pepsi, and while appearing on Ellen DeGeneres' show on Thursday, she tried to film a Diet Pepsi commercial (embedded). It didn't go well, or perhaps it went perfectly, as the daytime talk show host made sure that Sofia didn't have an easy time with the ad.
The 40-year-old actress attempts to speak the lines of the commercial, but Ellen keeps distracting her. Among the humorous things Ellen did was using an air horn, breaking bottles (obviously, breakaway glass) on Sofia's head, shooting Silly String at her, an invasion by cardboard birds, dropping ping pong balls, and bringing out a singing Josh Groban.
Ellen also danced around with a number of shirtless guys, sure to distract the "Modern Family" star.
It's not the first time the pair has done such an ad. Earlier, the two did a cosmetic commercial, but Sofia had no idea what DeGeneres had written for her, instead just reading the dialogue off of a teleprompter sans rehearsal. This time, though, Sofia knew exactly what Ellen had planned -- textually, anyway.
As Ellen said, since Sofia is a professional, even if she "does one or two things to you to distract you (audience groans), you shouldn't have any problem with it." Right.
Still, despite the distractions, Sofia maintained her professionalism -- for the most part -- and made it through the whole ad. After making it all the way through, Ellen congratulated her with a "Great job!" statement.
Sofia showed some faux anger at the end of the skit, but afterwards, she could be seen hugging Ellen.
