Ellen Pompeo talks to Ellen DeGeneres about the 'Grey’s Anatomy' musical episode

Ellen Pompeo shared a few spoilers about the upcoming Grey’s Anatomy musical episode on the March 8th episode of the Ellen DeGeneres Show, which aired at 3pm on NBC 5 in Chicago.

When Ellen first heard Chicago-born Shonda Rhimes propose a musical episode, she rolled her eyes. “And then we read it,” Grey’s Anatomy’s Meredith said, “and I have to say, I think people are going to love it.”

The musical episode doesn’t unfold in a typical way. In other words, it’s no Glee. Rather, the Grey’s Anatomy cast will be singing songs that the drama made famous.

So how does all this singing come about? In the March 31st episode, “Song Beneath The Song,” a patient in a coma will dream the doctors are singing. Everyone will be singing, but it will be Sara Ramirez who is the focal point, as she should be. “It’s good the person in the coma wanted that person to sing,” Ellen DeGeneres joked.

DeGeneres’ interview of Pompeo went beyond the future Grey’s Anatomy’s episode. They also talked about Pompeo’s 17-month daughter Stella and her love of Elmo. The interview ended with a game of medical charades.
