The 26 year-old star made the announcement to a group of LGBT teens at Time THRIVE, a conference hosted by the Human Rights Campaign at Balley's Hotel & Casino earlier today.

Page, who had a break-out performance as Juno, a pregnant teen in the film of the same name cited football player Michael Sam, who came out earlier this week and actress Lavern Cox from Orange is the New Black as her inspiration for the announcement.

The actress stood before the crowed room and stated, ""I’m here today because I am gay and because maybe I can make a difference. To help others have an easier and more hopeful time. Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility."

She continued, "It’s weird because here I am, an actress, representing -- at least in some sense -- an industry that places crushing standards on all of us, not just young people, but everyone. Standards of beauty. Of a good life. Of success. Standards that, I hate to admit, have affected me."

The website for the Human Rights Campaign congratulated the star for her “brave decision to live openly and authentically.”
