Ellen Degeneres announced on the Ellen show today that she will be the new judge on American Idol beginning in 2010. Ellen has been a long time fan of American Idol, and today said that she has watched every episode of the show since it started. She will replace Paula Abdul, and sit next to Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi.
"I'm thrilled to be the new judge on American Idol," DeGeneres said on her show today. "I've watched since the beginning, and I've always been a huge fan. So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I'll save from not having to text in my vote."
CNN stated that there will be guest celebrity judges for the 2009 season, and Ellen Degeneres will begin in 2010 as the 4th judge.
