Ellen DeGeneres' fans can sigh a breath of relief at the news that the Ellen DeGeneres' show has been renewed through 2017. MSN reported on Monday, March 11 that the shows producers at NBC announced the show is good to go for at least four more year, with 189 television shows committing to airing the popular daytime talk show.
"The Ellen DeGeneres Show" debuted in September 2003. Amid a crop of several celebrity-hosted talk shows surfacing at the beginning of that season, such as those of Sharon Osbourne and Rita Rudner, her show has consistently risen in the Nielsen ratings and received widespread critical praise.
The show was was nominated for 11 Daytime Emmy Awards in its first season, winning four, including Best Talk Show. The show has won 25 Emmy Awards in its first three seasons on the air. DeGeneres is known for her dancing and singing with the audience at the beginning of the show and during commercial breaks. She often gives away free prizes and trips to her studio audience with the help of her sponsors.
NBC TV president Valari Staab described "Ellen" as the "crown jewel" of NBC's daytime lineup. Ellen DeGeneres is currently broadcasting her 10th season of the hit show.
Ellen DeGeneres is currently married to actress Portia de Rossi. The couple married after the overturn of the same-sex marriage ban in California.
