Elle Schorr and Nathan Selikoff present Visions: Real and Imagined

Two talented artists Elle Schorr and Nathan Selikoff, have teamed up for a joint exhibition, "Visions: Real and Imagined" in GardensArt, Palm Beach Gardens City Hall Lobby.  This unique and thought provoking show runs May 9 - June 23, 2011 with an opening reception on Wednesday, May 11, 6 - 8 p.m.

Elle Schorr, whose career was in social work, has been involved in the Palm Beach County art community since she became a Lake Worth resident over a decade ago.  She served as a docent at the Palm Beach Institute of Contemporary Art, as a board member of Artists of Palm Beach County, and she's been an active member of the Photo Salon at the Armory Art Center as well as Infocus at the Palm Beach Photographic Centre.

Her work has been included in numerous juried exhibitions throughout South Florida, among them, "All Florida" at the Boca Raton Museum of Art, "Visual Conceits" and "New*Art" at the Armory Art Center, "Contempo"at the Lighthouse ArtCenter, “Vanishing Florida” traveling exhibition, and in the "First and Second National Photography and Digital Imagery Exhibitions" at Palm Beach State College, Eissey Campus where she met Nathan Selikoff.

Nathan, who recently had his first solo exhibition in the Eissey Campus Gallery, was born in Atlanta in 1980 and received a B.F.A. in Computer Animation with a minor in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida in Orlando.  His award winning prints have been exhibited in galleries and venues throughout the United States and around the world, including Art Basel in Switzerland; Bridges Conferences in Hungary, Canada and the Netherlands; the Maitland Art Center in Florida; AXIOM Gallery in Boston; the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art; and SIGGRAPH Art Galleries.

Both artists use their art to examine visions of reality. “When I explore a city, I consciously seek out this cacophony, this juxtaposition of cultures, life styles, and times in our lives, attempting to capture these contradictions and overlapping impressions of city life, ever changing and in transition, a mix of yesterday, today, and tomorrow,” states Elle. “These works appear to be photo collages, but they are, in fact, single photographs, capturing a moment in a split second, with all the unexpected bits of information that would otherwise be lost as I moved on with the crowd.”

Nathan loves to experiment with the overlap between art and mathematics. The right and left brain are “inextricably linked” in his work. “My art depends on mathematics, yet simultaneously illuminatesand unravels its beauty. I am the explorer who uncovers something extraordinary, bringing into view that which was always there to be discovered.”

Nathan provides design and development services through his company Digital Awakening Studios.  More of Elle’s work can be seen in season at the Liman Gallery in Palm Beach, and currently at 110 East Atlantic Avenue “Vivid Art” exhibition in Delray Beach.
