At 51, supermodel Elle Macpherson has the fit bikini body of a woman half her age, thanks to a low carb alkaline diet and regular workouts that include yoga, running and hiking.

Macpherson, who was nicknamed "The Body" during her modeling heyday, has redefined middle age, but admits she works hard to maintain her age-defying beauty.

Elle, who's promoting her new line of alkalizing green juices called Super Elixir, told ABC News her low carb alkaline diet consists mostly of "vegetables, a little bit of fish, not much protein, and no coffee or alcohol."

Elle said her other anti-aging beauty secrets include lots of water (she drinks three liters every day), exfoliating her skin, moisturizing every day, and sleeping for a minimum of eight hours a night.

Her beauty regimen is clearly paying off, as Macpherson has barely aged since 1986, when she graced the first of a record five Sports Illustrated swimsuit covers.

In addition to good skincare and a healthy diet, Elle leads an active, outdoorsy lifestyle. "I'm Australian and I've always done a lot of sport, whether it be surfing or running or hiking, road biking," she said. "It's not really just about making sure you look thin, but it's actually that you enjoy doing [exercise]."

On other days, Elle takes a yoga or spin class. No matter what, Macpherson makes a point to exercise every day, both for her physical and emotional health. "I can't ever remember doing something physical and feeling worse," she said.

Macpherson said she's comfortable with getting older and has no desire to be young again. Elle, who has not gone overboard with much (or any) plastic surgery, joins a growing number of Hollywood beauties who say they prefer to age naturally.

Fellow supermodel Christie Brinkley also looks unbelievable at age 61, thanks to her longtime vegetarian diet and regular workouts that include yoga, strength-training, running and walking. Like Macpherson, Christie's anti-aging beauty secrets include careful skincare.

"My routine is very simple: I cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize,” Brinkley told Health. “I’m religious about wearing sunscreen daily."

Christie said she has followed a vegetarian diet since age 12. Brinkley said she typically has oatmeal with mixed berries with breakfast, a large salad with beans and nuts for lunch, and pasta with vegetables for dinner.

Like Macpherson, Brinkley hasn't gone overboard with plastic surgery, and said the secret to aging well is having a positive attitude.

"I don't believe in allowing my age to define me," she said. "And I really believe attitude plays a huge part in how you feel. I would be remiss when talking about beauty secrets to not say that one of the best is to care about the world around you. That's what really matters."
